Demanding action against NC leaders including Minister Thapa for interfering in local elections

POKHARA: Sharada Giri, the Nepal Congress candidate for Pokhara-8 chairpersonship, has demanded action against the leaders, including the minister, claiming that she was defeated in the May 13 local elections due to interference.

She has written a letter to Central President Sher Bahadur Deuba and demanded action.

In his letter, Bindu Kumar Thapa, the law minister of Gandaki province and a Congress representative, as well as leaders Birendra Narayan Bijukche, Subas Sigdel, Ramesh Prasad Baral, and Geeta Pangeni, were urged to take action. Giri was defeated as ward chairperson despite winning the Pokhara-8 ticket twice in a row.

The NC ran in this election in coalition with five other parties, including the Maoists.

He accused the leaders of slandering and insulting the party.
