Teej being observed today, How to fast?
Fasting and worshiping Shiva Parbati on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya is a religious belief that will bring you happiness, peace, and well-being.
KATHMANDU: Haritalika (Teej) festival is celebrated today by worshiping Uma Maheshwor on the day of Bhadra Shukla Tritiya.
Fasting and worshiping Shiva Parbati on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya is a religious belief that will bring you happiness, peace, and well-being.
It is believed that a man who observes this fast does not have to be a widower, and that a woman who observes this fast will have good luck, and that unmarried children will find a suitable groom or bride.
During the Satya Yuga, Parbati, the Himalayan daughter, wished to marry Shri Mahadev by performing penance at Gaurighat. When her father Himalaya tried to force Parbati to marry Vishnu against her wishes, she confided in her friends. When her friends realized Parbati was in danger, they kidnapped her and hid her somewhere no one could find her.
Parbati fasted and received Mahadev at the location where her friends had hidden her. As Parbati was abducted by her friends on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, there is a religious belief that the practice of taking Haritalika fast began at that time.
Haritalika is formed by combining two Sanskrit words, ‘Harit’ and ‘Aalika,’ where ‘Harit’ means “haran” and “Aalika” means friend.
It is believed that if Parbati fasts on this day during the Satya Yuga, she will receive Lord Mahadev Swami and her wishes will be granted. According to traditional beliefs, all women should fast without fasting.
Fasting is classified into three types: fasting, water-eating, and fruit-eating. It is recommended to fast after considering the scriptural phrase “Sarvath Atmanam Gopayet,” which means “protect the soul from all sides and fast only.”
Water, kandamul (shakharkhand, pindalu, etc.), fruits, milk, volatile things, things eaten by Shrotriya Brahmins, food according to the Guru’s words, and medicine are all traditional fast foods. According to theologians, there is a myth that the Teej fast is only observed for the husband’s long life.
Fasting on Teej is also thought to be a wish for good luck, for children, unmarried girls and boys to find a good bride and groom.
Men fast when they are unable to fast or when they are menstruating as women fast as family guardians. According to the theologian, the discriminatory fasting tradition is not as strong as some feminists believe.
The purpose of fasting, according to the theologian, is to fulfill wishes and to benefit the entire family. This fast is observed by both spiritualists and theists. Overall, the Teej fast is significant for the happiness, peace, and transcendental goodness of the family in this world.
Sakam, Nishkama, Nitya, Naimittika, and Kamya are the five types of fasting. Teej fast, according to theologians, is both daily and active. Teej fast is not only for Hindus but for all humans, according to scripture.
According to theologians, this fast should not be taken literally, as it is stated in the scriptures that Akarne Pratyavaya Shravanat karana phal Shravanachcha Haritalika vrat nityam kamyan cha bhawati (If you do not observe this fast, you will be guilty; if you observe it, you will reap the benefits; this fast is both nitya and naimittik).
As those who observe this fast, those who fast on Tuesday prepare for today’s fast by eating sweet and hearty dishes. Maiti (mother’s home) and brothers, in particular, feed their daughters and younger sisters. A traditional rule states that every two portions should be consumed at night.
Women also use it as a festival to express their year-round sorrows, pains, and sorrows. Women use songs to publicize their grievances during Teej.
Teej, a disorderly and flamboyant character, has recently emerged. Teej’s culture has been distorted by activities such as eating, jewelry, and fashion display since a month ago.
Culture experts and theologians have emphasized that the perversity should be stopped because such activities will make those who do not have it sad.
