In Pics: Demonstration of sidewalk traders

KATHMANDU: Sidewalk traders protested in front of the Kathmandu Metropolitan office on Tuesday, demanding that they be able to trade confidently on the sidewalks.

The independent nationalist Swarojgar Shramik Sangharsh Samiti, an organization of sidewalk traders, demonstrated.

They gathered in Kalimati and came with slogans and rallies. They also hoisted slogans against Mayor Balendra Shah outside the Metropolitan Corporation office.

They have demanded the unconditional return of their belongings seized by the metropolitan police and the ability to conduct business on the streets without suspicion.

During the demonstration, businessmen handed the metropolitian a memorandum outlining their demands. They submitted a memorandum to Chief Executive Mahesh Kafle.
