KATHMANDU: Political parties and candidates will not be allowed to use vehicles with foreign license plates in the House and state legislative elections scheduled for November 20.

A code of conduct proposed by the Electoral Commission states that vehicles with foreign license plates are not permitted in election campaigns.

According to the Commission, such a proposal was intended for local elections in the first states connected to the Indian border: Madesh, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.

Also in previous elections, cars were cheaply rented in India and used in border district elections.
