KATHMANDU: The Nepal School Staff Council has announced the school’s closure.
In response to the government’s failure to pay proper wages, the council has announced that community schools across the country will be closed for one week beginning August 28.
As the government has not addressed the demand, community schools across the country will be closed from August 28 to September 3.
Prior to that, the staff council issued a press release announcing a protest rally from Khulla Manch to Maitighar Mandala on August 25, a digital movement on August 26 and 27, and a large demonstration in Kathmandu on September 4.
Even before this, the council had staged a number of protests. The council has proposed that 34,730 salaries for school staff assistants (accountants) be maintained, 24,210 salaries for school assistants be maintained, and arrangements be made in the amendment of the Federal Education Act 2028.
