Work on selecting a candidate begins

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Communist Party CPN-S has directed that candidates be recommended and chosen for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) and State Assembly elections on November 20.

The recommendations made by the HoR Constituency Committee and the State Assembly Constituency Coordination Committee at the scheduled time must be recommended to the State Committee by the respective District Committee by August 28.

According to the party’s general secretary, Dr. Beduram Bhusal, the state committee will recommend names to the central committee by August 31, and the central committee will make a final decision on the candidate by Sept 5. The center has begun the formal and informal process of candidate selection.

Leaders and workers who are committed to the party’s direction, policies, and programs will be nominated. Candidates who have played an active role in building the party organization and contributed, who are steadfast in their loyalty and discipline to the party and the revolution, who have good financial and moral conduct, who are established and popular among the people, who have a clean image and are partial to good governance, who have good performance and who are active and inclusive, will be chosen in accordance with the principles.

To make direct and proportional candidates for the House of Representatives, the party’s House of Representatives Election Regional Coordination Committee is working hard to recommend at least one woman and no more than four people to the district committee. The district committee will recommend to the state committee the names of at least three people, including at least one woman.

Party Central Propaganda Department member Kritu Bhandari stated that the state committee will send its recommendations for the three candidates to the central committee, and the central committee will decide whether to make direct or proportional PM candidates from among the three recommended by the subordinate committee.

The party’s state assembly election regional coordination committee will recommend names to make candidates for state assembly members directly and proportionally.

Although he is a qualified and capable leader in the party organization, he believes that because he is affiliated with the party alliance, candidates should be selected in different geographies based on its sentiments.

In districts with a single constituency, the District Committee will serve as the House of Representatives Regional Coordination Committee. If no regional election coordination committee has been formed in a district, one will be formed within a week to carry out recommendation work.

Special State and Special District Committees may also nominate one woman and one man as proportional candidates. The Central Committee will compile a closed list from the names recommended by the Subordinate Committees and record in the Centre’s records.

It is the policy of the committee to make the decision about the candidate in a full meeting as much as possible, and if a full meeting is not possible, it will be decided in a secretariat meeting. If a decision is challenged, a higher committee will investigate and make a decision.

The party’s people’s organization has begun campaigning and campaigning to create public opinion in favor of the party through various creative activities. After the candidate is chosen, door-to-door campaigning will begin.
