Training & selection for ninth sports begins in Gandaki
The events will take place in Kaski, Nawalpur, Syangja, and Baglung.
KATHMANDU: The process of selecting state-level athletes for the 9th Games, which will be held in Gandaki State, has begun. Players from 14 sports have been chosen, and training has begun in Gandaki State.
The players were chosen by the Gandaki State Sports Council. According to the council, the first phase will include a competition for 14 players as well as special training for 14 games beginning on August 19.
The events will take place in Kaski, Nawalpur, Syangja, and Baglung.
Training has begun for soft tennis, tennis, kho-kho, hockey, fencing, squash, swimming, triathlon, cycling, women’s handball, basketball, football, cricket, paragliding, golf, wrestling, shooting, and archery. According to Tej Gurung, member secretary of the council, the players will be chosen from this training.
The competition for the final six will begin on August 31st, following special training and the district six. The 9th National Games will feature 38 games, including 36 competitions and two exhibitions.
It is expected that approximately 8,000 people will take part in all of the games. More than 700 people from Gandaki alone will take part in this.
Ramji Baral, the Finance Minister of Gandaki, has handed over the materials required for the players to the council. He stated that there will be plenty of funds to finish the competition.
Despite the fact that the competition for six players has begun, the players complain that there are not enough coaches for the game.
