KATHMANDU: The 11-member working group formed to distribute the ruling coalition’s seats for the upcoming parliamentary elections has prepared three seat distribution modalities.

The meeting is currently debating three modalities.
- The number of seats won in the House of Representatives and the State Assembly in 2074 will be used as the basis, with all direct seats remaining the same.
- The number of votes received by the parties in the May 13 local level elections will be used as the basis.
- 2074 by retaining the number of seats obtained through direct proportional representation and only distributing the remaining 081 seats won directly by the CPN-UML.
According to one of the alliance’s leaders, after giving Congress 85 seats, the remaining 80 seats could be distributed to the alliance’s other four parties. Previously, the task force was given until the end of Shrawan (mid-August) to submit the distribution modality.
The task force, which was formed on August 5, includes Congress members Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Gagan Thapa, and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
Similarly Barsaman Pun and Dev Gurung from the Maoist Center, Vice Chairperson Pramesh Hamal and General Secretary Beduram Bhusal from CPN-S, Rakam Chemjong and Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav from JSP and Himlal Puri and Anand Sharma from the Rashtriya Jan Morcha Party.
