Man died in a house fire in Belepur

KATHMANDU: A man was burned to death while sleeping inside a house in Morang’s Sundarharaincha Municipality-11 Belepur when a fire broke out on Wednesday night. Around 11 p.m., a fire broke out at Balkrishna Giri’s house, according to police.

Morang Police spokesperson DSP Deepak Shrestha stated that Kumar Shrestha, 38, died while sleeping inside the house when it caught fire.

Deceased Shrestha had been staying at Giri’s house just three days earlier. He used to paint in his spare time. Shrestha, according to police, is unable to speak or hear clearly.

Shrestha, who was living in Giri’s house and working on painting the new house built by him, was burned to death by the fire, according to the police.

According to the police, he died inside his house after it caught fire while he was sleeping and he was unable to escape. All of the household items inside the old house, including food, clothes, cash, and so on, were destroyed by the fire.

Four fire departments from Biratnagar, Itahari, Sundarharaincha, and Belbari reached on the scene to put out the fire.

The police believe the fire was started by an electrical short.
