Campaign to remove LP gas started from Ministry of Finance
The displacement of LP gas from Singha Durbar has begun in the first phase, as per the arrangement included in item no. 253 of the current fiscal year's budget.
KATHMANDU: From Singha Durbar, a campaign to consume indigenous electricity and replace LP gas within the country has begun.
The displacement of LP gas from Singha Durbar has begun in the first phase, as per the arrangement included in item no. 253 of the current fiscal year’s budget. Simultaneously, LP gas has been removed from the Ministry of Finance’s Chamena Griha as of today.
Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma initiated it. After spending a large amount of money on cooking gas alone, the government has made policy arrangements in the budget with the goal of increasing electricity consumption internally.
Although the goal was to remove LP gas from all of the Chamena Griha and restaurants within the Singh Durbar by the end of Shrawan (July/August), this was not possible for a variety of reasons.
Finance Minister Sharma stated that electric stoves were used in the Ministry of Finance canteens today and requested that LP gas be replaced in the canteens of all ministries and departments as soon as possible.
Manarishi Dhital, the Finance Minister’s Public Relations Adviser, stated that the Finance Minister has directed all subordinate agencies to participate in this process immediately.
The government is encouraging people to use electric stoves. The electricity tariff has been adjusted to reflect this. A policy has been implemented to increase the use of electric stoves in public buildings and metropolitan areas as a positive intervention.
Petroleum products worth approximately three billion rupees were imported in the fiscal year 2078/79 due to an increase in the price of fuel on the international market.
To avoid this, the government believes that using electric stoves is the best option. Finance Minister Sharma has also directed Nepal to consume domestic energy and carry out budgetary provisions, according to public relations consultant Dhital.
Although the majority of the fireplaces have prepared electric stoves, they have requested that a regular supply of electricity be arranged.
The country’s main administrative center, Singhdurbar, and its surrounding areas occasionally experience problems with the smooth flow of electricity due to technical complications.
According to reports, the authority is taking steps to address the issue, and arrangements will be made to allow the use of electric stoves without restriction.
