Study on 21 charges against Cholendra begins

KATHMANDU: The investigation into the 21 allegations leveled against suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher has begun.
The General Indictment Recommendation Committee will convene to begin debating the impeachment of suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.
On February 13, a grand indictment was filed against Rana in Parliament. The ruling parties proposed 21 grounds for impeachment. The ruling party’s parliamentarians filed an impeachment motion, claiming that Rana had failed to uphold democracy, human rights, people’s justice, the rule of law, constitutional independence, and a responsible judiciary.
Rana was suspended following the filing of the indictment. The committee will begin investigating the allegations against him on Wednesday.
