Case registered against officer of Mohanyal Rural Municipality of Kailali
A team from the Commission's Kanchanpur office arrested Chhetri on July 17 for allegedly accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a customer.
KATHMANDU: Dipendra Budha Chhetri, officer (sixth level) of Kailali’s Mohanyal Rural Municipality, has been charged in a special court by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
A team from the Commission’s Kanchanpur office arrested Chhetri on July 17 for allegedly accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a customer.
According to the commission, during the investigation, the authorized officer requested a bribe from the customer to pay the goods bill and asked them to transfer Rs. 14,000 to the bank account and it was confirmed that Rs. 30,000 was recovered from him.
The Commission fined Chhetri Rs. 44,000 for violating subsection (1) of Section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
A charge sheet was filed today in Kathmandu’s special court, demanding imprisonment and a fine.
