KATHMANDU: The graph of COVID-19 infection in Nepal is rising. In the last two weeks, not only has the number of people infected with COVID-19 increased but so has the number of serious illnesses and deaths.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population’s regularly published information on the COVID-19 situation, 32 people died from COVID-19-related causes between July 17 and August 12. Twenty-six of them did not receive even one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, four received a second dose, and two received a booster dose.
All of the deceased were chronically ill, according to Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, co-spokesperson for the ministry. One of the victims was 21 years old. He had a kidney transplant.
Others who die are also over the age of 50, he claims. He requested that all unvaccinated people be vaccinated because they are at high risk of COVID-19.
