Garbage from ‘core area’ picked up overnight, where was it taken?
Mayor Shah has stated that garbage can be taken to the Bancharedanda landfill site beginning today.
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has begun garbage collection as of today. The metropolitan has begun collecting garbage from Kathmandu’s core area.
On Thursday, the municipal executive meeting of the metropolis held an intense debate about the garbage piled up in Kathmandu. During the meeting, UML-Congress ward chairpersons spoke out strongly against Mayor Balendra Shah. In response, Mayor Shah stated that garbage will be collected at night in the central city area.
Last night, the waste from 12 wards in the core area was collected and transported to the Teku plant. As today is the Gai Jatra festival, the garbage in that area was collected at night.
“The garbage of the core area, particularly the area where the Gai Jatra is taken out, has been picked up at night,” said Manandhar, the spokesperson.
Mayor Shah has stated that garbage can be taken to the Bancharedanda landfill site beginning today. He announced at Thursday’s executive meeting that preparations have been made to bring garbage to Bancharedanda beginning today.
The roads and streets have become stinky as a result of the garbage that has not been removed from Kathmandu for several weeks.
