Inmate escaped from COVID-19 treatment center

KATHMANDU: An inmate has escaped from Kosi Hospital’s COVID-19 treatment center.
He was admitted to the COVID-19 treatment center and then fled on Wednesday night.
According to police, the absconding inmate is 45-year-old Lakshman Das of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-18.
According to the treatment center, Das escaped around 10 p.m. on the pretext of going to the toilet after being sentenced to 6 months in prison in the banking offense case.
In the transaction case, the court sentenced Das to 6 months in prison on 2076 Baisakh 29 (12 May 2019). He fled after the verdict. On August 5, police apprehended him while he was hiding.
He was admitted to the COVID-19 treatment center on Aug 5 after the report came positive during the COVID-19 test for the prison.
