Janai Purnima & Gai Jatra falls on the same day

KATHMANDU: This year, Janai Purnima and Gai Jatra fall on the same day.

According to the Nepal Panchang Judging Committee, Janai Purnima and Gaijatra fall on the same day tomorrow.

According to Surya Prasad Dhungel, executive director of the committee, Purnima will begin at 9:44 a.m. today and will last until 7:25 a.m. tomorrow, after which Pratipada will be celebrated.

In memory of their deceased relatives, the Newari community holds a Gai Jatra on Pratipada Tithi, the day after Janai Purnima.

However, because the full moon is two days away this year, Pratipada also falls tomorrow.
