Second meeting of seat allocation working committee in Baluwatar
Previously, at the working group's first meeting on August 8, Nepali Congress leader Krishna Sitaula was chosen as the working group coordinator.
KATHMANDU: The meeting of the ruling parties’ working group to prepare the blueprint for seat distribution is taking place. The meeting was scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in Baluwatar.
The five ruling parties have formed an 11-member working group to develop a blueprint for coalition party coordination in the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections on November 20. The working group includes three members of Congress and two members from other parties.
Previously, at the working group’s first meeting on August 8, Nepali Congress leader Krishna Sitaula was chosen as the working group coordinator.
The working group develops a blueprint for all parties and submits it to the top leader by Shrawan (mid-August), when the top leader is ready to finalize it.
The parties are most likely presenting their claims at today’s working group meeting. Congress is planning to win 60 percent of the seats in the upcoming elections.
However, it appears that the working group will have a difficult time preparing a blueprint because the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialists have claims in many seats.
