BIRATNAGAR: Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC), Nagesh Koirala, has said there can be no compromise on determining Biratnagar as the permanent capital city of State 1. He made it clear that BMC would extend support in creating infrastructures for the provincial capital.

Mayor Koirala said it while talking to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti. The state government has been searching for land to construct physical infrastructures for the capital city. A committee has also been formed to this effect.

“We have already adequate infrastructures. If additional land is required, BMC will extend help,” he reiterated.

The state government had determined Biratnagar as the temporary provincial capital in line with the concept of the ‘greater Birat region.’

The greater Birat region has incorporated 18 local levels.

Mayor Koirala however said the state government had not written any formal letter to this regard.
