KATHMANDU: A demonstration was held in Baluwatar calling for the withdrawal of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari.

The Nepal Students Association, which is affiliated with the Congress, protested against the Adhikari today in front of the Rastra Bank’s Central Office in Baluwatar.

The Nepal Student Union is protesting by calling for the resignation of Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari, who is a member of the CPN-economic UML’s committee. Even before this, the Student Union had held several protests against Adhikari.

There is a provision that only an independent person with no political involvement can be governor, but Adhikari works in the UML’s finance department, and protests are taking place in Kathmandu.

During today’s protest, police arrested approximately two dozen protesting students. They are now being held in the Maligaon police circle.
