KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hold elections for the State Assembly and the House of Representatives (HoR) on Nov 20 in a single phase. This was decided at the Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ruling coalition‘s top leaders agreed to hold State Assembly and HoR elections on Nov 20.

The Election Commission proposed making a recommendation between Nov 18 to 21. As a result, the government has recommended November 20.

The State Assembly and HoR elections were held in two stages in 2074.

The coalition government led by Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has automatically become a makeshift government with the announcement of the election date.
