Ruling coalition agreed to hold elections on Nov 20
The leaders are unsure whether the parliament will remain after the election date is set.
KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition’s top leaders have agreed to hold State and HoR elections on November 20.
According to a leader, the cabinet meeting today at 1 p.m. could announce the election date. “The top leaders of the coalition have agreed on November 20,” he told Makalu Khabar, “and the election may take place on that date.”
The Election Commission has proposed November 18 as a date. On November 18, the government is almost certain to announce the date. Only on Wednesday did the alliance’s top leaders meet for a discussion.
The leaders are unsure whether the parliament will remain after the election date is set. “Running or not running the house is a different matter,” the leader explained, “but the house remains,” adding, “I am not very interested in running it.” The session could end after the transitional justice bill is passed.
