Meter Interest victims sit-in protest again, claiming that govt has not resolved the issue
Previously, they returned home after suspending their sit-in for 16 days after talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
KATHMANDU: The meter interest victims of Nawalparasi Susta have staged a sit-in protest again at Maitighar.
Previously, they returned home after suspending their sit-in for 16 days after talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs. They said that even after negotiations with the government, the problem of meter interest has not been resolved, so they had to come to the sit-in protest.
Participants in the Kisan Majdoor Sangharsh Committee-led sit-in against meter interest and fraud have demanded that the tamsuk (to write a hand note) of the land of the farmers-laborers who were made landless be returned, as well as the excess money taken.
Ramsuwak Musahar, who had come from Nawalparasi Susta on a sit-in, said that their problems had not been resolved despite the fact that they had returned home after discussions with the Ministry of Home Affairs. He stated that he was forced to stage a sit-in protest for the second time because the government failed to provide tamsuk while releasing the land.
The victims have stated that the land of the farmers who were made landless should be returned, as well as all money, as prescribed by law.
