61 kg of marijuana recovered from Biratnagar
A Safari No. 2 H 4610 loaded with marijuana SP was also seized by police.
KATHMANDU: The police seized narcotic marijuana from Biratnagar Metropolitan City-14, Juwa, on Wednesday.
SP Biratnagar, State 1 Police Office Nabinraj Rai reported that 61 kg of marijuana was seized while being packed in plastic and kept in City Safari, which was traveling east from west.
According to him, the marijuana was recovered around 11 a.m. by a team dispatched from the local police station, Rani.
A Safari No. 2 H 4610 loaded with marijuana SP was also seized by police. According to Rai, the safari driver fled when he saw the police. He stated that the search for the driver had been stepped up.
The owner of the safari has yet to be revealed. The seizure of marijuana and Safari prompted the police to launch an investigation. The police suspect the marijuana is on its way to India.
