Lam Patan in Kaski received the most rain in the last 24 hours, with 334 mm. The division reported that 240.2 mm of rain fell in 12 hours. More than 140 mm of rain in 24 hours and 120 mm in 12 hours is considered dangerous.
Many areas of Pokhara have been submerged as a result of the rain. In addition to Kaski, 209.4 mm of rain fell in 24 hours at Shaktikhor in Chitwan and 145.6 mm at Tarahara in Itahari.
Flood risk in these areas today
Even today, the flow of water in some of the country’s rivers is expected to increase significantly. According to the Department of Water and Meteorology’s Flood Forecasting Division, the flow in Tamor in Triveni, Arun in Simle, Dudhkosi in Rabuwa Bazar, Tamakosi in Busti, and Sunkosi in Hampchuwar will increase significantly today.
The Narayani River at Devghat, Trishuli River at Betrawati, Budhigandaki River at Arughat, Marsyangdi River at Bimalnagar, Seti River at Damauli, Kaligandaki River at Kumalgaon, Kankai River at Mainachuli, Kamala River at Belsrot, Bagmati River at Padhera Dobhan, East Rapti River at Rajaiya and Babai River at Chepang are expected to increase significantly. Similarly, it is said that the flow in some other big rivers will increase normally.
Today, the flow of some small rivers near Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Kathmandu, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Gorkha, Lamjung, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Syangja, Tanahun, Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East), Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West), Palpa, Kalikot
Some of them are expected to experience flash floods. The department has asked that the riverside area be kept vigilant.
