KATHMANDU: Dattatraya Temple is one of the most well-known temples in Bhaktapur. King Yakshya Malla built this temple in 1427 AD. Trishakti has been worshiped as Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar.
Devotees flock here during the month of Shrawan to worship with the religious belief that Lord Shiva resides in this temple. The main feature of this pagoda-style temple is that it is said to be made from a single tree.
This temple, located in Bhaktapur’s Tachpal tole, is packed with devotees during Maha Shivaratri, Monday of Shrawan, Wednesday of Poush, and Teej.
During the daily ritual puja, bitten rice is soaked in cow’s milk and offered to Lord Dattatreya, after which it is distributed as prasad. There is a popular belief that by accepting the prasad, those whose voices are not clear will have their voices clarified.
