Baitadi reports 189 missing cases in three years

KATHMANDU: A total of 189 people have gone missing in Baitadi, which borders India.
According to district police spokesperson inspector Lokraj Joshi, police reported 189 missing person cases in the last three years, with 130 of them being found.
According to him, the number of missing was 45 in the fiscal year 2076-77 BS (2019-20), 60 the following year, and 84 the year before. The majority of those who vanished were women and girls.
According to Ramesh Pal, the Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police, missing women and girls have been on the rise in the district in recent years.
According to reports, one of the causes of the rising number of missing persons is domestic violence.
