KATHMANDU: Conflict victims demonstrated in Kathmandu, claiming that the bill to amend the transitional justice law contains flaws.

They are demanding that the law be changed so that victims can receive justice, claiming that the bill contains a provision that grants perpetrators immunity.

The Nepal Maoist Victims’ Association, the conflict victims’ community, and civil society participants held placards saying that the law amendment process should be meaningfully consulted with the victims, that the bill that promotes impunity is unacceptable, and that the bill’s flawed provisions should be repealed.

They claim that they had no choice but to oppose the new law as they would suffer even more.
