Rhododendron saplings planted in Sarangkot hill
The planting of saplings of the national flower was organized at the initiative of the conference host, Pokhara Metropolitan City.
KATHMANDU: Mayors of different municipalities across the country joined hands to plant 11 species of Laligurans or Rhododendron saplings in the Shiv Mandir View Tower complex located in Sarangkot, a tourist destination of Pokhara.
The leaders of the metropolitan cities of the country were in Pokhara for the ‘Mayor’s Conference-2079’ that ended on Saturday.
The planting of saplings of the national flower was organized at the initiative of the conference host, Pokhara Metropolitan City.
Mayor of Pokhara Dhanraj Acharya said that Laliguras saplings were planted in Sarangkot on Saturday with the participation of metropolitan heads, deputy heads, chief administrative officers and experts from all over the country. The metropolis is planning to plant Laliguras in the high hills around Pokhara and in the vacant land.
The saplings were brought from Tehrathum with the help of Laliguras conservation and development campaigner Dhakaram Lamichhane, while a plan has been made to plant 32 species of the national flower found in Nepal on vacant land.
The mayor’s conference held on July 29 and 30 ended on Saturday evening with the release of the Pokhara manifesto. A press conference is being held here this morning to share the Pokhara Manifesto.
Among others, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah, Lalitpur mayor Chiribabu Maharjan, Bharatpur Mayor Renu Dahal, Birganj Mayor Rajeshman Singh, Biratnagar Mayor Nagesh Koirala and host Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya along with deputy chiefs and chief administrative officers participated in the conference.
