Budget Issue: Inquiry committee submitted report to speaker

KATHMANDU: The report of the special parliamentary committee formed to investigate outgoing Finance Minister Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ has been submitted.

Finance Minister Sharma resigned on July 6 after being accused of manipulating tax rates by allowing unauthorized persons to enter the ministry during the budget preparation for the fiscal year 2079/80.
The committee also questioned Finance Minister Sharma, who resigned after an 11-member parliamentary committee was formed. He had demonstrated that he did not make a mistake at the time.
The committee’s report states that the allegations against the Finance Minister have not been confirmed.
