Janardan Sharma Case: Inquiry committee submitting the report today
A report is being prepared for the day-long discussion and consultation on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Secretary Aryal.
KATHMANDU: The parliamentary special committee investigating the matter of unauthorized persons manipulating tax rates while developing the annual budget has issued a report concluding that no evidence has been discovered.
The committee prepared the report after deliberating on its contents for two days on Wednesday and Thursday.
The preparatory committee’s report will be submitted to the Speaker today. Surendra Aryal, the committee’s member secretary, stated that he would submit the report to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota today. He stated that the speaker had requested time for this.

However, following Thursday’s meeting, Khagraj Adhikari, a member of the committee representing the UML, stated that he has a different opinion on the report.
In the House of Representatives meeting held on July 6, Speaker Sapkota announced that an 11-member special investigation committee would be formed to investigate the matter.
The members of the committee were MP Khagraj Adhikari, Dev Prasad Gurung, Pushpa Bhusal (Gautam), Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Bimala BK, Laxmanlal Karna, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Sitaram Mahato, Sarlakumari Yadav and Surendra Prasad Yadav.
After the formation of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee, Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma resigned. The committee heard testimony from former finance minister Sharma, the finance ministry’s secretary, and high-ranking staff involved in budget preparation.
The committee was given 10 days to submit its report. The House of Representatives extended the deadline by seven days after the appointed committee was unable to work. The deadline for the committee is Thursday.
