State government reduced penalty on vehicle tax, the tax remains same
The penalty has been reduced from 200 percent to 20%.
POKHARA: The Gandaki government reduced the fine for the vehicle tax, but not the tax itself, in response to widespread criticism and protests.
On a single vehicle, the tax has been raised by more than 10,000 per year. The tax rate on everything from two-wheelers to heavy equipment has skyrocketed. The penalty has been reduced from 200 percent to 20%.
The transportation industry protested when the tax rate was not reduced. “There has been serious attention to the state government’s decision regarding taxes,” said Yogendra KC, chairperson of the Prithvi Highway Bus Operating Company. There is a movement underway. We invite everyone to take part.
He stated that he will convene a meeting immediately, close the traffic management office, and rally citizens to fight the government.
