KATHMANDU: The late King Tribhuvan and Mahendra’s old vehicles have been opened for public viewing at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum.
The Narayanhiti Palace Museum and the Republic Monument Management and Operation Development Committee opened the old kings’ cars to the public on Wednesday.
The vehicle for viewing at the event was inaugurated by Maheshwar Neupane, secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
The museum has a Ford Company Canada pick-up truck with a wooden carrier that was used by late King Tribhuvan. The truck is also used for hunting, according to experts.
Similarly, the late King Tribhuvan’s family car (B.A. 2), manufactured by Ford Company, is also opened for viewing, as is the 1963 model car used by the late King Mahendra.
Buddhi Gurung, the museum’s information officer, informed us that a car of this model is also housed in the British Raj Palace.
The physical and mechanical condition of all three vehicles is deteriorating, so they have been placed on viewing after physical repair and painting, according to the museum.
