Seats should be distributed on the basis of popular vote in upcoming elections: Shekhar Koirala

KATHMANDU: Dr. Shekhar Koirala, leader of the Nepali Congress, has stated that seats in the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) and State Assembly elections should be distributed based on popular vote and place won in the local level elections held last Baisakh (April/May).

In a press conference held today in Birgunj by Nepal Press Union Parsa, he stated that Congress should not distribute seats in the upcoming elections, as stated by the CPN-Maoist Center.

‘It is necessary to empower the states to implement federalism and to bring the issue of residence rights distribution to the meeting of the Chief Ministers’ Commission under the leadership of the Prime Minister,’ he said.
