Setting the tone for the training program, District Director Ankur Yadav, DTM, stated, “Becoming a good leader is understanding the concept of being committed to the organization, being grateful, and being self-aware.” Every year begins with a new motivation. This year will be a year of learning, of transformation, and of self-correction.”
Continuing on the theme of motivation, Ranjit Acharya, DTM, Immediate Past District Director of District 41, addressed the leaders and stated, “As leaders, be the better, not the best.” Always compete with yourself, and a good mantra to remember is “Get Serious, Get Smart, Get Going, Get Excited, Get Away.”
Mr. Sunil Thapa, a prominent name in the Nepali film industry who has also played recognized roles in Bollywood films such as Mary Kom, graced the event as a guest speaker. Mr. Thapa recognized the Toastmaster fraternity’s value in time management while inspiring the Toastmaster leaders, saying, “It is commendable to see you all value time, and I hope this is a learning that you take back to your personal and professional lives as well.”
Suman Shakya, DTM, who was also the event’s Chair, shared the challenges of the new normal that Toastmasters must adapt to as leaders: “The mantra that to be resilient is to Raise – Rebuild – Revive as we revisit the basics and make our fundamentals stronger.”
Moon Pradhan, DTM, Club Growth Director of District 41 for 2022-23, led the session on the marketing aspect of Toastmaster. The session focused on expanding the toastmaster fraternity and orienting leaders on the procedural requirements.
The interactive sessions were packed with information that the newly elected leaders of District 41 took with them. Along with all of the learning, the Nepal team extended warm hospitality to the tall Indian delegates and showcased Nepali culture.
