Even after four years, murderer remains unidentified

KATHMANDU: Nirmala Panta, a 13-year-old girl from Kanchanpur, was raped and murdered four years ago. Even four years after the murder, the perpetrator has yet to be identified.

Nirmala Panta, 13, of Ultakham, was raped and murdered on 2075 Shrawan 10 (July 26, 2018). Panta’s body was discovered in a sugarcane field the day after the murder.
According to the police, 18-19 people from that area are still being detained and interrogated. DNA tests on 107 people have been undertaken as part of the investigation into the murder case, and 635 people have been questioned thus far.
According to police officers, this is the first incident in four years that the Nepal Police has spent significant resources and manpower investigating in this manner.
