KATHMANDU: Bishwaraj Pokhrel, the AIG, has resigned.
He went to the Naxal police headquarters and resigned.
Pokharel, who is dissatisfied with the government over the AIG promotion case, resigned on Monday.
Pokharel was displeased with the promotion of his junior, Dhiraj Pratap Singh, to Inspector General.
Dissatisfied Pokharel went so far as to file a case against the government in the Supreme Court. After the Supreme Court upheld the government’s decision, he resigned.
His resignation will be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs by the Inspector General of Police, and the Ministry of Home Affairs will forward it to the Council of Ministers. AIG’s resignation must be approved by the Council of Ministers.
He had previously been on leave.
