KATHMANDU: After the start of the month of Shrawan, Hindu women wear henna (Mehendi) on their hands and green glass beads around their necks.
The month of Lord Shiva is considered to be the month of Lord Shiva, in which Shiva is worshiped throughout the month of Shrawan, married women wear red, green, and yellow bangles and glass beads, and unmarried women wear green and yellow bangles.
According to Hindu tradition, if a married woman wears green-yellow glass beads and henna, her husband will live a long life. Similarly, unmarried people fast on Shrawan Monday in order to find a husband like Shiva.
There is also a belief that the thicker the henna is, the more the husband’s love will be received.
In the first week of Shrawan, there is a large crowd of women in Kathmandu New Road’s massive market area and the pote shop in Indrachowk.
Women applying henna can be seen on the road. Similarly, the number of people purchasing green and yellow bangles has begun to increase elsewhere in the market.
