KATHMANDU: The government has extended the tenure of the officials of the Truth and Reconciliation and Disappearance Investigation Commission.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday extended the tenure of the officials of both the commissions by removing the obstacles.
Similarly, the Council of Ministers has decided to register a bill to amend the law on transitional justice in the parliament.
Until the law is passed, the term of office of both the commissions has been extended through the removal of obstacles. The bill is scheduled to be registered in the parliament today.
The Truth and Reconciliation and Disappearance Investigation Commission’s term ends tomorrow.
