Tipper driver arrested for raping woman

KATHMANDU: A person has been arrested on charge of raping a woman inside a tipper.
Gyan Bahadur Nepali, 32, of Gauri Shankar rural municipality-8 in Dolakha, was arrested on Monday for raping a 17-year-old woman inside a tipper parked on the way to the Nepal Oil Corporation’s Thankot depot in Chandragiri Municipality-7.
Dinesh Raj Mainali, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Range in Kathmandu, stated that Nepali raped the woman inside the parked tipper (Ra 1 Kha 2734) on July 8. Nepali, the tipper driver, had driven the woman from Gaushala to Thankot in the tipper.
The team, led by Chief Dilli Narayan Pandey, rescued the woman and transported her to Maternity Hospital for treatment, he added.
Nepali was being held in custody for five days while an investigation into the case was being conducted.
