Special committee to start investigation on finance minister from today

KATHMANDU: A parliamentary special committee has been formed to investigate the allegations leveled against Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.

A special committee has been formed to investigate claims that Finance Minister Sharma manipulated tax rates by involving unauthorized individuals during budget preparation.
Earlier, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota convened the committee and issued directives. Sarala Kumari Yadav, a committee member, informed the meeting that the president of the committee will be elected today, as well as the working procedure.
Following that, the committee stated that it will work to complete the work in two and a half days. The committee has a 10-day term.
Finance Minister Sharma resigned on July 6 after being accused of infiltrating the ministry and manipulating the tax rate. If he is found not guilty, he will return to the ministry as finance minister.
