Death toll in Sankhuwasabha tractor accident hits three

KATHMANDU: According to the Area Police Office in Chainpur, the death toll in the Sankhuwasabha tractor accident has risen to three.
A tractor (Ko 2 Ta 3961) that was carrying mourners skidded off the road and overturned at Kumkata along the Khandbari-Leguwa road on Friday noon, killing three persons and injuring many others.
Ganga Bahadur Tamang, 24, of Chainpur Municipality-10, Keshab Karki, 46, of Municipality-9, and Khadga Bahadur Bhandari, 66, have been identified as the deceased. Bhandari was the most recent victim of the accident, dead at the Dharan-based B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
According to Police Inspector Basnet, the 66-year-old Bhandari died on Friday night while receiving treatment at Dharab’s BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Similarly, injured Tamang and Karki died while receiving treatment at Tumlingtar’s Manakamana Community Hospital.
Manakamana Community Hospital referred the six critically injured patients to BPKIHS for further treatment.
Mohan Kumar Tamang, 34, of Chainpur-10, was arrested by the Temporary Police Post in Sabhakhola.
