Metropolitan set aside Rs 1.5 million to build a statue of Yama Buddha
A budget of Rs 1.5 million has been set aside for the statue's construction.
KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City will erect a statue of rapper Anil Adhikari, better known by his stage name Yama Buddha. The metropolitan has budgeted for the construction of a Yama Buddha statue in the coming fiscal year.
A budget of Rs 1.5 million has been set aside for the statue’s construction. According to the metropolitan chief Balen Shah’s secretariat, a statue of Yama Buddha is being built to honor the contributions of the hip-hop and nep-hop genres.
Mayor Balen’s personal secretary, Bhupdev Shah, stated that the decision was made in recognition of rapper Yama Buddha’s role in introducing ‘Nep-hop’ to the world.
Even within the metropolitan, there is dissatisfaction with the ward chairpersons’ decision to build a Yama Buddha statue from the metropolitan budget without consulting anyone.
