Three Sajha electric buses in operation, additional 37 buses to arrive in Shrawan (July/August)
According to the company, the driver and co-driver of these three buses will be women.
KATHMANDU: Three electric buses have been put into service by Sajha Yatayat (Public Transportation Bus).
Bishwa Bandhu Thapa, the joint venture’s founding chairperson, inaugurated the electric bus service on Thursday at a function at the Sajha Yatayat Complex in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
Two of the three buses in service will run from the airport to Balaju-Ratna Park-Baneshwor via the new bus park. A bus will run along the Budhanilkantha route, stopping at Lagankhel, Lainchaur, and Bansbari.
According to the company, the driver and co-driver of these three buses will be women.
According to reports, only three electric buses have been put into service as a test so far.
Sajha has purchased 40 electric buses in the first phase. According to the company, 37 of these buses will be delivered by the next Shrawan (July/August).
It is planned to buy an electric bus in three stages and put it into service. The joint venture, which is currently operating short-distance buses, has stated that it will transition to long-distance operation with electric buses in the next phase.
The government invested Rs. 3 billion in 2076 Ashar (June/July 2019).
