KATHMANDU: After a dispute arose during the ongoing polling in Bajura‘s Budhiganga Municipality, police opened fire in the air.

Prakash Chandra Lohani, the Chief District Officer of Bajura, informed Makalu Khabar that there was a disagreement between the representatives of the two parties at the Trishakti Secondary School polling station.

“Police fired in the air to avoid a fight and an unusual situation,” he explained. ‘It’s calm now, voting is going on,’ he said.

The disputed election held on May 13 was canceled, and voting has resumed today. A team led by Nepal Police and Armed Police is currently stationed in ten polling stations.

According to Lohani, the election will now take place in a peaceful environment.
