An 11-member committee is being formed to investigate finance minister

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ will be investigated by an 11-member committee. The main opposition party, the CPN, has four MPs on the committee (UML).

Similarly, the ruling and allied parties have 2/2 representation from the Nepali Congress and the Maoist Center, while the Unified Socialists, People’s Socialists, and Democratic Socialists have 1/1 representation.

The names of the committee members will be read out during the next parliament session.

Finance Minister Sharma has been chastised for raising tax rates in favor of unregistered business owners. The main opposition party, the CPN (UML), has demanded that the House be resigned.
