Finance Minister Sharma has been accused of fixing tax rates with business people's help.
KATHMANDU: Police detained Youth Congress leaders and activists who were protesting in front of Singha Durbar South Gate with black flags and banners calling for Finance Minister Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’s resignation.
They held black flags and chanted, “Corrupt Finance Minister Resigns.” Police detained 12 protesters and kept them at the Metropolitan Police Circle in Singha Durbar.
According to Youth Congress leader Manaj Puri, they were arrested by excessive behavior by police.
Finance Minister Sharma has been accused of fixing tax rates with business people’s help. From the streets to the House, people have called for his resignation. But he has stated that he will not resign.
Even in the House, the main opposition party, the CPN (UML), has called for his resignation, as have some leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress.
Leaders such as Vice Presidents Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung, as well as General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, have called for Finance Minister Sharma’s resignation.
