Woman arrested for swindling Rs 6.3 million by promising to send to New Zealand

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested one person for frauding by promising to send to New Zealand.

Sobha Poudel, 27, of Nuwakot’s Bidur Municipality-7, now residing in Budhanilkantha Municipality-3 was arrested, according to the police.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Nidesh Kumar Acharya, she was apprehended by the Valley Crime Investigation Branch.

She took Rs 63 lakh 20 thousand rupees from nine people, including Narayan Bogati of Dudhauli-1 in Sindhuli, saying she would send it to New Zealand but did not send them. Sobha was arrested after the Department of Foreign Employment received a complaint alleging fraud.

SP Acharya said she was apprehended in Kapan’s Nilo Pul on Tuesday evening.
