Meeting between CM Shahi & Swiss Ambassador
The issue of the mental health programs run in Karnali with the support of the Swiss government was discussed during the meeting.
KATHMANDU: Switzerland’s Ambassador to Nepal, Elizabeth von Kepler, paid a courtesy call on Karnali Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi.
The meeting on Tuesday covered topics such as federalism implementation, the impact of armed conflict on the mental health of victims, and the Karnali Road Master Plan.
The issue of the mental health programs run in Karnali with the support of the Swiss government was discussed during the meeting. CMC Nepal is conducting mental health counseling programs in six municipalities across three districts in Karnali with the help of the Swiss government.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kepler expressed interest in the Karnali state government’s work with conflict victims. She proposed that the state government take a more serious approach to minimize the impact on the mental health of conflict victims.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Shahi stated that the state government has done significant work for conflict victims in the areas of relief, treatment, and mental health. “The Karnali state government takes the issue of conflict victims very seriously,” said Chief Minister Shahi. “We’re working on relief, subsistence allowance, medical care, mental health care, and counseling.”
Karnali’s road master plan, according to Chief Minister Shahi, is also nearing completion.
