Dr. Sunil Sharma couple honored, praised by CM

KATHMANDU: Dr. Sunil Sharma, Executive Chairperson of Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), and his wife have been honored. Dr. Sharma and Indira Sharma Baral, Managing Director of Nobel Medical College, were recognized for providing free medical treatment to the players.

On behalf of the Board and the Olympians Association, Dr. Sharma and Baral were honored on Sunday at a program hosted by the State 1 Sports Development Board in Biratnagar Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar and KMC in Sinamangal, Kathmandu have agreed to provide free treatment to all Nepalese athletes competing in the Olympics, as well as athletes from State 1 competing in the SAAF and Asian Games.

The board and the association have signed agreements with Nobel and KMC to treat the players’ family members at a 50% discount. Dr. Sharma and Baral have been honored following the agreement.

On the occasion, Chief Minister of State 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai presented Dr. Sharma and Baral with letters of appreciation. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rai expressed regret for the need to raise funds for the treatment of Nepali players and thanked Nobel and the KMC for arranging free treatment for the players. He praised those with broad chests, such as the Sharma couple, for their assistance in treating the players.

KMC’s Executive Chairperson is Dr. Sharma, and Nobel Hospital’s Managing Director is Baral. The Sharmas, who work in social services, have arranged for the players to receive free treatment at both hospitals.

The Sharmas were praised by the majority of the event’s speakers for arranging free treatment. Minister for Social Development Rajan Rai, Member Secretary of State 1 Sports Development Board Wagle, President of Olympians Association Bista, and others publicly praised the Dr. Sharma couple on the occasion.
