Mayor arrested in Achham youth death case
Already, five people had been arrested.
KATHMANDU: Seven people, including Mayor Ambika Chalaune, have been arrested in connection with the death of Binod Shahi, 17, in Achham’s Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-4.
According to the Far Western State Police, seven people have been arrested on charge of murdering Shahi, including the newly elected mayor of Panchadewal Binayak Municipality.
According to Mohan Kumar Archay, Deputy Inspector General of Police, seven people were arrested on Saturday, including the driver and two others.
Already, five people had been arrested. The District Police Office in Achham also stated that the investigation into the incident is nearing completion.
The youth was found dead on a hill near his house on May 4 after going missing during a clash between Nepali Congress and UML cadres during the local level election.
The family had filed a formal complaint against 13 people, including the mayor, alleging that he had been murdered.
